Thousands of Minnesota children are failing to learn to read well enough to succeed in school and beyond. About 60 percent of Minneapolis and St. Paul public school students are not proficient in reading.
What’s more, urban public schools have one of the largest gaps between children of color and white students in the nation.

The research is clear
Singing accelerates reading skill acquisition
When researchers at the University of South Florida first began investigating the effectiveness of a newly launched sing-to-read software program— now TUNE into READING (TiR)—they discovered that struggling middle school readers using the software for just 90 minutes per week over 9 weeks advanced an entire grade level in reading. Those not using the program showed little-to-no progress.

A proven singing-to-read software program intervention.
It’s quite possibly the most effective program available for struggling readers and it’s how we work with schools to implement Rock ‘n’ Read strategies and interventions.
The TiR approach to melodic learning leverages the connection of music and language in the brain. Singing enhances auditory processing, pitch-awareness facilitates phonemic awareness, and prosody boosts reading comprehension.
Rock ‘n’ Read ensures the successful implementation and use of TiR software in order to achieve the best results possible in each of its partner schools.
